What is activated charcoal?
Activated charcoal is charcoal that is produced using small particles of carbonaceous substances such as coal, sawdust and coconut shells. It is heated to very high temperatures so that it develops small spaces in it to trap chemicals. Activated charcoal draws grime, bacteria, oil and other impurities from the skin, which makes it an amazing ingredient to treat all your skin woes. It’s even better when you use an activated charcoal peel off mask as it exfoliates your skin and sloughs away dead skin cells.

At times, acne leaves behind scars that are even more difficult to treat. But this hero ingredient will do the trick for you. Treating acne scars and blemishes just got easier, ladies! All you need to do is use activated charcoal on your facial skin to get rid of the scars. Thanks to its slightly abrasive texture, charcoal helps slough away the dead skin on top of the acne scars, thereby revealing new skin beneath.
4. Helps remove impurities
Your facial skin is regularly exposed to the sun, pollution, oil, grime and is in constant contact with makeup products. This debris on your skin does not leave room for your skin to breathe. It is therefore important to pamper your skin on a daily basis. Apart from the usual CTM procedure, you need charcoal peel-off masks in your routine. Did you know? Activated charcoal has the power to trap carbon-based impurities. The dirt and other environmental pollutants that have accumulated on the surface of your skin will be sucked out with the help of a charcoal mask leaving your skin looking clean and clear.
5. Excellent exfoliator
While facial cleansing is a part of your daily skin care regimen, we often give exfoliating a miss. Remember that your skin will never forgive you for committing this crime! Exfoliating promotes skin cell renewal, thereby revealing a healthier and glowing complexion. To avoid the hassle of exfoliating, simply pick a charcoal peel off mask that’ll not just help exfoliate your skin but also moisturise and brighten its appearance.
6. Oily skin woes no more
Oily skin can seriously bring your beauty game down. What’s even worse is when the oil gets mixed with your makeup leading to a much-dreaded makeup meltdown. To keep oily skin at bay, charcoal can be your best bet. Activated charcoal sucks out excess oils and stale sebum that is stuck within your pores. In such cases, it’s a great idea to get your hands on the charcoal to balance oily skin. Make it a regular habit and you’ll see a huge difference in the texture of your skin over a period of time.
