Summer brings with it a slew of skin problems, the worst of them being chafing *ugh*. The rubbing of skin in the inner thigh, underboob or underarm area leading to redness, sensitivity and inflammation is called chafing. Not only is it extremely painful (especially on the inner thigh), but also makes walking or wear well-fitted clothes a task.
But not anymore! We are going to let you in on some super useful tips that are bound to keep chafing away this summer. Scroll below to find out what they are…
- Wear the right fabrics
- Drink plenty of water
- Powder the areas that are prone to chafing
- Apply a lubricant before wearing your clothes
Wear the right fabrics

We have always been advised to wear cotton clothes during the summer months, but if your skin is prone to chafing, then this may not be such a great idea. Instead, opt for moisture-wicking fabrics, especially when it comes to your underwear. This is because cotton soaks the sweat, but takes a long time to dry off, increasing friction and discomfort. Moisture-wicking underwear, on the other hand, dries off in a jiffy and reduces friction to a great extent.
Drink plenty of water

What has drinking water got to do with chafing, you ask? Apparently, a lot. When you drink lots of water, your body stays and feels hydrated at all times allowing your body to perspire freely and release the toxins from your system. If your body is dehydrated, your sweat turns into really tiny salt crystals that rub against your skin when you indulge in any sort of activity and ends up increasing chafing and skin inflammation.
Powder the areas that are prone to chafing

If your thigh area is prone to chafing, then dust a little talcum powder in the entire area. This will restrict sweat production, keeping the area dry for a longer period of time. Zero friction = no chafing what so ever! Yay!
Apply a lubricant before wearing your clothes

If you have sensitive skin, then a powder, especially the ones with fragrance, can cause skin irritation. But don’t lose hope just yet, because you can always use the Vaseline Original Pure Petroleum Jelly. Simply apply this product liberally on the areas that are prone to chafing to get some much-need relief. Why does this work? The petroleum jelly keeps the areas well-lubricated and ensures that the skin slides past each other instead of rubbing against one another to reduce friction.
