Who doesn’t love winter? Giving us respite from the monsoon as well as the October heat, winter is practically our favourite time of the year. From bringing out our comfy sweaters to swiping on those gorgeous plum lippies, we can‘t wait to do it all.
The only thing we’re not looking forward to is dry, parched and patchy skin that often sneaks in along with the cool weather. Thankfully, we’ve gotten our skincare essentials ready early this year. To help you do the same, here are some super moisturising winter skincare goodies that need to replace your summer ones if you want happy skin this season.
- 1. Cleanser - Swap your gel face wash for a cream face wash
- 2. Body lotion – Swap your regular body lotion for a richer body lotion
- 3. Makeup remover – Swap your makeup remover for micellar water
- 4. Toner – Swap your toner for a hydrating mist
- 5. Scrub - Swap your face scrub for a chemical exfoliant
1. Cleanser - Swap your gel face wash for a cream face wash

Gel formulated face washes are super lightweight and leave the skin feeling absolutely squeaky clean and refreshed. But unfortunately, gel face washes also leave your skin feeling extremely dry and patchy in the winter months. Therefore, this is when you need to switch your gel-based face wash for an awesome cream cleanser. A cream-based cleanser can help balance your skin, as it doesn’t overcompensate by producing more oil.

2. Body lotion – Swap your regular body lotion for a richer body lotion

Protecting winter skin isn’t just for your face; it extends to all over your body. You may have noticed that your skin all over your body feels tighter and itchier than usual, and this is your cue to moisturise your entire body. Just like your face moisturiser, switch to a creamier and richer formula during the winters. Look for products that contain fatty lipids such as shea butter and/or vitamin E.
Pro Tip: Apply body lotion straight out of the shower or bath while skin is still damp to lock in moisture.

3. Makeup remover – Swap your makeup remover for micellar water

While your average makeup remover does the trick on most days, winter calls for special care. You don’t want to use a product that dries out your skin and leaves it parched. So, if you haven’t already tried the beauty junkie favourite, now’s the time to give micellar water a go! It removes makeup like a dream and hydrates your skin too. The perfect solution for winter, we think.

4. Toner – Swap your toner for a hydrating mist

It is really important to have a toner in your skincare routine, but winter demands a change in formula. As the air gets drier, limit the usage of a toner to the bare minimum. Instead, switch to using a face mist after cleansing your face as usual. A face mist will not only rejuvenate your skin, but also provide total hydration. The best part is you can use it over makeup as well for an instant freshen-me-up!

5. Scrub - Swap your face scrub for a chemical exfoliant

Regularly exfoliating your skin is extremely important even in the winters as this helps slough away dead skin cells and make your skin glow. But using physical exfoliants can be a little harsh on the winter sensitive skin, making your skin drier. Instead, we urge to try chemical exfoliators to gently dissolve the top layer of dead skin and wash it away. This kind of exfoliation is a lot more gentle and won’t make your skin dry and flaky.
