Our skin reacts differently to every season. We’ve all noticed constant oiliness in summers and dry skin in winters. So naturally, our skincare routine cannot remain constant in every season. We have to swap and switch products so we can combat seasonal problems effectively. Summer is just around the corner and before it’s too late, here are some skincare changes you need to incorporate to keep your skin looking healthy all throughout summer.
Change your face wash

Winter calls for moisturising and nourishing face washes, while summer, it’s best to stick to refreshing cleansers. Use a rejuvenating face wash for summers that is packed with antioxidants and de-tanning properties will keep you looking fresh. People with oily skin should look for oil-controlling or mattifying cleansers. The Lakmé 9to5 Matte Moist Clay Face Wash is a brilliant pick. Infused with pure green tea extracts and mineral clays like kaolin and bentonite, it adsorbs excess oil and impurities from deep within the pores to detoxify skin and reveal cleansed, refreshed, matte-looking skin.
Replace heavy moisturiser with gels

Your skin needs all the moisturisation it can get in winters. However, in summers, lightweight gels are your best bet. They are non-greasy and get absorbed easily. Look for gel-based moisturiers that contain soothing and hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin E. The Pond’s Super Light Gel Oil Free Moisturiser is infused with both hyaluronic acid and vitamin E. It offers 24 hour moisturisation, and gives you a water fresh glow. We love to see it.
Incorporate mists

The heat can take a toll on your skin. It is very important to provide your skin with a boost of hydration every few hours. Hence, you NEED facial mists in your summer routine. You can carry these around in your bag and spritz it all over your face whenever your skin feels tired and looks dull. The Dermalogica Ultracalming Mist is a great option. It contains oats and botanical actives that inhibit inflammatory triggers and minimse burning and itching sensations. The soothing aloe vera in it helps calm the skin while moisturising it in the process.
Vitamin C + SPF

Vitamin C is your best friend for summers, don’t underestimate it. Just a few drops of vitamin C will hydrate, repair, replenish and protect your skin from UV rays. The Lakmé 9 to 5 Vitamin C+ Facial Serum is a lightweight serum that gets absorbed in the skin in just a few seconds. It provides 100x more vitamin C than any other serum, thanks to the Kakadu plum extracts in it.
But that’s not enough, it is important to seal vitamin C with sunscreen on top. Vitamin C’s potency starts to deplete when direct sunlight hits the skin. If it is used without sunscreen on top, after a point it does nothing. Ensure you slather on SPF of at least 30 for summers and reapply it every few hours. The Lakmé Sun Expert SPF 50 PA+++ Ultra Matte Lotion Sunscreen provides broad-spectrum protection i.e. protects your skin from both, UVA and UVB rays.
