Ageing. What’s that? Well, it’s one of those things that creep up on you when you least expect it. And a bunch of things could trigger it prematurely (read: environment, your lifestyle, bad skincare habits). While these may not seem like a big problem now, it could be quite damaging for your skin in the long run. Well, guess what; adding essential oils to your skincare routine can help slow down the ageing process.
Essential oils are highly potent and can offer great results in a short span of time when used the right way. Here are five essential oils that have anti-ageing properties and you can start using them right away!

Rose oil
Essential oil made using petals of the most romantic flower can brighten up dull and ageing skin by stimulating blood flow. When used regularly it encourages the production of collagen in the skin and reveals a youthful complexion.
How to use: Massage a few drops of rose oil on your face and neck twice a day. You can also mix it with aloe vera gel for an instant boost of hydration.

Argan oil
Brimming with fatty acids, argan oil (popularly known as liquid gold) hydrates the skin, restores lost elasticity and improves fine lines and wrinkles. Easily absorbed by the skin, argan essential oil can be used by all skin types including acne-prone skin.
How to use: Take a few drops on your fingertips and gently massage onto face, neck and under eye area to keep your skin moisturised and healthy looking.

Avocado oil
Avocado contains anti-ageing properties, and is capable of providing protection against free radicals. A great source of vitamin A and E, it also moisturises your skin and protects it from the harmful UV rays.
How to use: You can apply it directly to your face and neck or mix with other oils or skincare products.

Lavender oil
High in antioxidants and skin rejuvenating properties, lavender essential oil combats the signs of ageing as well as the appearance of wrinkles. It also acts as a moisturiser and promotes blood flow to ensure nutrients and oxygen reach skin cells and rejuvenate the skin.
How to use: Lavender oil is safe to be added in any skincare DIY or applied directly onto the face and neck for best results.

Ylang ylang oil
It aids in skin regeneration, improving the appearance of dull and mature looking skin. Ylang ylang essential oil has a toning effect on the skin and smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles. Its antiseptic properties also help in treating skin irritations and preventing skin problems.
How to use: Add a few drops to your daily moisturiser and apply all over face and neck.
