This is the most delicate of all skin types—sensitive skin, as the term suggests, is super sensitive to most products and environmental conditions, be it over-exposure to the sun or a new product or ingredient. Some may notice their skin peel off on beach vacations, while others may experience an instant skin reaction with the use of new beauty products. Not all ingredients are meant for sensitive skin types. And the tell-tale signs? Redness, dryness, itchiness and frequent breakouts!

If you have sensitive skin, then this article is just for you! We’ve discovered a natural remedy to calm inflamed skin—a DIY face mask! This chamomile oatmeal face mask will give your skin that much-needed hydration and healing.

Oatmeal works as an excellent moisturiser with anti-oxidant, skin-healing and itch-relieving benefits. And that’s not all! It helps reduce puffiness, redness and treats rashes too.

Chamomile on the other hand, has strong anti-inflammatory properties, which soothe both sensitive and acne-prone skin, and has strong anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties too, which help soothe sunburns. It also protects the skin against free radical damage.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to prepare this face mask at home:

Step 1: First blend half a cup of oatmeal and one tablespoon of dried chamomile flowers until they turn into a fine powder.

Step 2: Mix the powder together and add just enough aloe gel to create a smooth, spreadable paste. Aloe too has calming properties.

Step 3: Add a couple of drops of lavender essential oil to the paste.

Step 4: Apply a thick layer of the mask onto cleansed skin, making sure you spread the mixture on your face and neck evenly.

Step 5: Let the mask sit for about 10-15 minutes before rinsing off with cool water.
