If you’ve been a sufferer of the melted makeup syndrome (cause: extremely hot climate), you’ll be glad to know that there might just be a solution. Korean skincare has been taking the world by storm for a while and their latest trick called ‘Jamsu’ is about to take it to a whole new level.
The Korean word ‘Jamsu’ translates to diving or submerging and in layman’s terms, includes the dunking of one’s completed face makeup in cold water for a smoothly finished face. It has even gone on to be touted as a reverse baking makeup technique! One of the earliest advocators of the K-beauty trend, Japanese beauty vlogger YoonCharmi demonstrates the tutorial for a matte finished face. Especially if you’ve got oily skin, this just might be the skin hack you’re looking for so here’s how you do it.
Apply your base makeup as you would do usually. Begin with primer, follow up with foundation plus concealer and blend it thoroughly.
A final step to your base makeup would be to seal it in with powder. But skip it and instead, pat down your face with baby powder or translucent powder. Go slightly excessive with the powder as it is necessary for the Jamsu process.
Then submerge your entire face in a shallow bowl of cool water for 20 – 30 seconds. Once you remove it from the water, let it sit for a few seconds and then pat off the water gently with a towel.
You’re done! This Jamsu trick will leave your skin mattified and even toned in just a few minutes. Take a look in the mirror and see for yourself!
