2017 has been one eventful year. We’ve seen many trends come and go, but only a few that have made their mark, and are worth remembering. The world of makeup and beauty saw a number of gorgeous trends, right from K-beauty’s glass skin to yellow eye shadow. Just like these makeup trends, there’ve been a number of big hair trends that 2017 has seen. Right from cute cuts, hairstyles, colours, and more, it’s safe to say that this year has been a great year for hair, at least.

Here are our favourite 2017 hair trends and hairstyles, ranked…

#8 High ponytails

#8 <a href=High ponytails" title="#8 High ponytails" width="600" height="400" itemprop="image" >

This 2017 hair trend screams nothing but elegance. It works just as well on wavy hair, as it does on straight hair. We love how this hairstyle can make your face seem lifted. It’s also really easy to do—all you need to do is gather all your hair to the top of your head, and tightly secure it with a hair tie.

#7 Shiny and slick

#7 Shiny and slick

This hairstyle was big during the spring 2017 fashion week. It was donned by some of the most popular celebs out there including Gigi Hadid and Kim Kardashian. What we love about this slick, shiny look is the fact that it looks as great IRL as on the runway. All one needs is a generous amount styling product to rock this hairstyle.

#6 Loose, romantic braids

#6 Loose, romantic braids

This year, on the Cannes red carpets, many celebs, like Nicole Kidman and Sara Sampaio, did away with loose, low buns or other fancy up-dos, and went with low, loose braid hairstyles that are just as classy. We’re absolutely in love with this hair trend, and hope it makes its way to 2018.

#5 Platinum-coloured hair

#5 Platinum-coloured hair

Going platinum seemed to be a favourite hair trend this year. Even stars like Cara Delevigne decided to do away with more subtle hair colour, and go with a silvery platinum blonde. Even though this hair trend is a bit too bold, we really love it!

#4 Waves

#4 Waves

2017 could easily be called the year of waves. Whether they were beachy, full, or flat, when it came to hairstyles across events, waves made their mark. The waves we loved the most were the ones created with a flat iron, and were quite subtle, but yet very glamorous. We also love that they work on hair that’s of any length.

#3 Caramel highlights

#3 Caramel highlights

We love 2017’s caramel-coloured highlights as they add warmth to any hairstyle. What’s great about this hair trend is that they looked as great in the summer as they do in the winter.

#2 Curtain fringe

#2 Curtain fringe

A fringe is without a doubt one of the best ways to frame your face. And like we mentioned before, Alexa Chung knows how it’s done. Her curtain fringe was one of the biggest hair-hits of 2017, what with J.Lo debuting hers on Instagram a few weeks ago. It’s got the right amount of glam, as well as subtlety, which is why we love it so much, and has made it to this hair trend list.

#1 The lob

#1 The lob

To us, the lob is hands down, the number one hair trend of 2017, and to be honest, this fact isn’t surprising. This is because, the lob is a hairstyle that flatters anyone, and everyone, and also suits almost any hair texture. We hope to see more of the lob in 2018, as well!
