Home-made hair masks to hydrate your hair

In addition to your skin, winters are also really hard on your strands. Dry air sucks out all the moisture from your hair, not to mention the fact that you already have to deal with the pollution, dirt and grime that’s settled on your scalp during the course of the day. It’s important to boost hydration in your locks especially during this season so that your hair doesn’t begin to resemble a broom (in our parlour lady’s words). Here are some hydrating hair masks at you can easily make at home for moisturised, beautiful hair.
Avocado Coconut oil Honey Homemade Hair Mask To Hydrate Your Hair

Avocado + Coconut oil + Honey

You will need: One avocado, extra virgin coconut oil, honey

Step 1: Add two tbsp. of coconut oil in a mixing bowl. Scrape all the insides from the entire avocado into the oil and mix

Step 2: Add a 1 tbsp of honey

Step 3: Whisk all the ingredients until the mixture is smooth, then apply it on your hair and leave it on for about two hours. Then, wash off.

Avocado is an amazing ingredient for dry hair because of its monounsaturated fatty acid content which provides a rich, creamy texture to the fruit. It also contains Vitamin E which boosts hydration and lends your hair a soft texture. Coconut oil nourishes the hair follicle and honey, which is a humectant, locks moisture in! This hair mask will give you guaranteed results if applied once a week for two to three months.

Banana Honey Yogurt Homemade Hair Mask To Hydrate Your Hair

Banana + Honey + Yogurt

You will need: Half a banana, one cup yogurt, half a lemon’s juice

Step 1: Mash the banana in a bowl and you can add a few drops of olive oil to it (optional)

Step 2: Add the yogurt and begin whisking

Step 3: Once the consistency is smooth, apply on your hair

Step 4: Put on a shower cap to avoid any dripping and leave it for 2 hours after which you can wash it off.

Bananas are rich in potassium, natural oils and vitamins which are known to improve hair’s texture while restoring moisture. Yogurt is full of protein which is what your hair needs extensively and the lactic acid in it helps cleanse the scalp. This is the ultimate hydrating hair mask that your hair is craving this winter.

Eggs Olive Oil Homemade Hair Mask To Hydrate Your Hair

Step 1: Crack open two eggs in a mixing bowl and add 1 tbsp olive oil to it

Eggs are rich in protein and fatty acids which help lend extra moisture to your hair, olive oil is a great conditioner. Its moisturising properties help seal your hair cuticle (the outermost part of your hair shaft) by forming a moisture barrier on it. This hair mask gives you the best of worlds, moisturising and healing.

Remember that the washing process after applying any of these hair masks is equally important. If you’re giving your hair natural remedies, you might as well ensure that they are incorporated when you rinse your hair too! For this reason, we love the TRESemmé Botanique Nourish & Replenish Shampoo and Conditioner. It has a rich blend of olive oil and camellia oil and absolutely no parabens; just what your hair needs to protect it from further damage!

So, which of these home-made hair masks will you be trying this weekend?
