Thankfully dandruff can be easily treated and that too at home. Here are some home remedies to naturally get rid of dandruff.
1. Tea tree oil
This oil has many treatments ranging from acne to psoriasis. It is also said that Tea Tree oil has powerful anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, which may help alleviate symptoms of dandruff. However, this oil should be used sparingly, especially by those with sensitive skin. Always dilute it by adding a few drops to carrier oil.
2. Coconut oil
Coconut oil is often used as a natural remedy for dandruff. It may help improve skin hydration and prevent dryness when applied to the roots and scalp. When applied on skin it improves skin texture and keeps skin hydrated for a long time. Coconut oil can aid in the treatment of eczema, a skin condition that can contributes to dandruff.
3. Aloe Vera
It is a type of succulent that has many skin and hair benefits, it is generally found in skin ointments, cosmetic and lotions due to its soothing properties. When applied to the scalp Aloe Vera is believed to treat dandruff and flakiness. The anti-bacterial and antifungal properties of Aloe Vera may also help with recurrence of dandruff.
4. Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is used as a natural remedy to get rid of dandruff. The acidic nature of vinegar is stimulates the shedding of dead skin cells on the scalp. It also balances the pH level of the skin to reduce the growth of fungus and thus fight dandruff. Add a few drops of apple cider vinegar to your shampoo or combine it with other essential oils and spray directly onto your hair.
5. Baking soda
Baking soda is a quick, convenient and a readily available remedy that helps get rid of dandruff. It has gentle exfoliants that remove dead skin cells and reduce scaling and itchiness. It has antifungal properties that could be beneficial in the treatment of dandruff. Try applying baking soda directly to wet hair and massaging it into your scalp. Let it sit for a minute or two, then continue to shampoo your hair as usual.
