Pop Songs From The 90’S We (Secretly) Know All The Lyrics To

Written by Team BBJun 23, 2016
One of the sad casualties of our times has been the Indian pop music industry that did very well for itself but doomed nonetheless. The industry that gave us some precious gems to remember and then got lost in translation is one of those things we wish existed today. But because it does not, we think it a good idea to revisit some of the pop classics of the 90s and revel in the nostalgia.

‘Duniya’ by Raageshwari

So we have all seen and loved this number by Raageshwari Loomba for its upbeat music, catching lyrics and most importantly the lovely video that was way ahead of its time too (we’d only seen Bollywood shooting in the Maldives thus far!)

‘Dhoom pichak’ by Euphoria

Catching the very nerve of Banaras ki galiyaan was this band playing in the background as this beautiful expat explores the incredible India as we know it. Through the gullies of Banaras the song takes you through the many colours of India, which continues to also remain the basic, rustic essence of the song.

‘Ankhon mein’ by Aryans

Featuring Shahid Kapoor and Hrishita Bhatt from another lifetime, this song has been an anthem for every kid in college. Actually to be fair it continued to hold a strong spot on the playlist of many youngsters for an entire decade and because we don’t want the newbies to miss on it, here is bringing it back in vogue.

‘Made in India’ by Alisha Chinoy

If you are one of those that have drooled over Milind Soman (who is easily one of India’s first generation super models) then this song and video have most definitely been on your charts for the longest time.

‘Gur naal ishq’ by Bally Sagoo

An out and out Punjabi number to have graced most of the decade’s parties is the Punjabi classic, ‘Gur nal ishq’ by Bally Sagoo! Before Malaika Arora Khan was immortalised as  the ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ girl, she made an appearance opposite model Jas Arora in this super catchy dance number.
