The Simpsons

The Simpsons

Its current 27th season brings home the fact that The Simpsons is wildly popular. No wonder it is the longest running American sitcom on television! The show revolves around the dysfunctional Simpsons family which includes a mischievous son, a bookworm of a daughter, a toddler, a hardworking mom and a klutzy dad. Based in the fictitious town of Springfield, their adventures at the local tavern, school and nuclear power plant even went on to land them The Simpsons Movie.

Archer

Archer

We’ve all seen spy thrillers where the suave agent cuts the wire of the ticking time bomb, saves the world and gets the girl. Sterling Archer, the central character of the show, is a comic take on that suave agent. Being a narcissistic spy for global espionage, Sterling interacts with his meek butler, his fierce ex-girlfriend and bunch of colleagues. With sharp humour on his drinking habit, turtlenecks and saving the world, Archer hits the arrow on the head and gets several laughs while he’s at it.

Bob’s Burgers

Bob’s Burgers

The show is centered on the Belcher family which includes a goofy son, an awkward daughter, a devious younger daughter, a delightful mom and Bob, the 3rd generation owner of the hamburger restaurant. Together, the family helps around the restaurant and keeps it from going out of business. The brand of realistic humour hits home and has us chime in with agreement. Between their antics to serve their faithful customers and sneer at their competitor pizzeria, this animated comedy keeps both, the burgers and the humour, sizzling!

South Park

South Park

While the show revolves around 4 school-going boys in an American town, the humour of their friend group is a far cry from the school yard. The comedy of this program is based on shock value, dark humour and numerous gags around the town landscapes, their gang as well as their parents and teachers. The plot of each episode also revolves around a fair amount of celebrities, trending incidents and pop culture.

Family Guy

Family Guy

While a family focused show is run-of-the mill, the Griffin family is nothing like any ordinary family. The clan consists of a caring mother, a dim dad and an even dimmer son; a daughter not cared for, a talking dog and a baby who wants to take over the world. The slapstick brand of humour includes several running gags like the romantic conquests of the neighbour and a feud with a man in a chicken suit. Between comical interactions with the members of their town and the youngest member of their family trying to be an all-powerful leader, this one gets plenty of laughs from us!
