Water is undoubtedly the ultimate source of hydration. But little did you know that drinking too much water or more than your body requires can do more harm than good and sometimes affect your health adversely. Our detailed guide below will help you understand how much of water your body needs...
how much water should you drink every day 600x400 piccontent

Throughout the day we lose at least 1 litre of water through sweat, urination and other physical activities. But that doesn’t mean all of us require the same amount of water to keep our bodies fully hydrated. The amount of water your body requires depends on your body weight and your activity levels. Scroll down to understand this better...

Calculate the amount of water you need as per your body weight

It’s very simple. Multiply your weight by 0.033 to find out how much water your body requires throughout the day. For example, if you weigh 60 kilos then your body needs 1.98 or almost 2 liters of water everyday. And if you workout regularly or play any form of sport your body requires over and above that amount.

How should you be drinking water?

Definitely from steel glass or a glass. Avoid plastic as certain quality plastics release cancer-causing chemicals called dioxins.

How to reach you daily water goals

Drinking water apps

Our biggest concern is that we don’t always ‘remember’ to drink water. Drinking water apps not only remind you but also keep a track of how much water is consumed throughout the day. Our favourites are Carbodroid for Android and WaterLogged for iPhone.

Distribute your drinking cycle evenly throughout the day

Make a habit of drinking a glass of water as soon as you wake up in the morning to get your metabolism going and a glass or two before you go to bed. You might not feel thirsty but keep in mind that when you wake up and before you go to sleep you’re looking at close to seven hours without a sip of water.

Flavour your water

Add cucumber, lemon or limes or simply make some warm green tea (without milk) for an antioxidant rich, skin boosting and hydrating drink.
