Travelling can be a rather enriching experience and I’ve been fortunate enough to have travelled to several destinations—all of which have given me some of the best memories of my life. So if you’re looking to satisfy your wanderlust, here’s a low-down on four must-visit spots around the globe.

Hawaii

Hawaii

I love it because…

I think of Hawaii as a great place to unwind. I’m a total beach person so I absolutely loved relaxing on the beaches of Hawaii. I visited Big Island, Maui and Kauai and I have to say that this trip was one memorable experience for me.

The sight that took my breath away…

Snorkeling, without a doubt! I’m always up for trying something new and absolutely loved watching all kinds of marine life underwater. It was so colourful! I also loved swimming with the dolphins at Big Island. There were hundreds of dolphins swimming right next to me and if you happen to be in Hawaii, this has to be on your to-do list.

For the foodies…

Oh Hawaii has some really good Italian joints where they make yummy pastas! You’d be surprised but it also has restaurants that serve delectable Indian cuisine.

For the shopaholics…

Don’t go there to shop; just visit it to appreciate the beauty of Hawaii.

My favourite memory…

It has to be the chopper ride where they showed us volcanoes from the top. It was great fun!

Orlando

Orlando

I love it because…

Being the biggest Walt Disney fan, I had to go visit Orlando, which has the Walt Disney World, comprising 4 parks, including Magic Kingdom and Epcot and 2 water parks. There’s also Universal Studios. I love rides and I have to tell you that I went on each and every ride there. Since I went on my honeymoon to Orlando with my husband, it was all the more special.

The sight that took my breath away…

If you love amusement parks and Disneyland, this is the place to be. So there’s no one sight that took me by surprise. Every ride was special for me.

For the foodies…

We stayed at the Walt Disney World Resort, which has the best food available. They have South African cuisine, which is almost like a twist to Indian food—there are a lot of breads and tandoori items on the menu. At Universal Studios, you can get the nicest pretzels, churros and popsicles if you happen to have a sweet tooth.

For the shopaholics…

There is a mall called Vineland where you can buy some of the biggest brands at good prices. Also, if you’re a fan of Disney, you can shop so much from the Disney stores.

My favourite memory…

Oh it has to be staying at the Walt Disney World Resort! That, in itself, is such a good experience; you almost feel like you’re living in a fairytale.

New York

New York

I love it because…

The more said about New York, the lesser justice it does to how amazing this city is. It’s a busy place, much like Mumbai but there’s so much to shop, eat and see that you will never get tired of New York.

The sight that took my breath away…

Just walking through Times Square can be an endless journey. The kind of people you meet, the stores, the restaurants—everything adds to your travel when you’re in New York.

For the foodies…

If you want an elaborate breakfast, Sarabeths is your best bet. If you’re looking for Asian cuisine, you have to try the food at Buddakan. But if like me, you’re a fan of bagels, try them at Pick A Bagel.

For the shopaholics…

I’m a huge fan of all the brands located at Times Square. Every store is beautiful and houses some of the best accessories, bags, outfits, makeup, everything! New York is a heaven for shoppers.

My favourite memory…

There’s a pub called Frying Pan in New York. It’s like a floating lighthouse. I visited New York with friends and I remember having a blast here. The people were friendly, the weather was superb and there was fantastic live music playing.

Kerala

Kerala

I love it because…

I love the backwaters of Kerala. I’ve been to Bekal, Periyar and a lot other places. It’s so breathtakingly beautiful. If you need to hit a place that calms you down, you must give Kerala a chance.

The sight that took my breath away…

In a beautiful place like Kerala, there’s no one gorgeous sight. The houseboats, restaurants and the people –everything can contribute to you having a wonderful stay. Also, the fact that you’re surrounded by nature all the time makes you feel so relaxed.

For the foodies…

There’s so much more to South Indian food than dosas. This is something you’ll realise when you try the South Indian thalis in Kerala. They’re delicious and reasonable.

For the shopaholics…

If you’re going to Kerala, you can’t not come back with their spices. Also, I absolutely love the typical South Indian saris that are available there. I love wearing them here in Mumbai because they’re perfect for our weather.

My favourite memory…

It has to be visiting the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. I love wildlife and it was my first safari. If you happen to visit Periyar, this sanctuary should be on your itinerary.
