As self-proclaimed beauty junkies and suckers for trying out everything new that promises us good skin, it’s safe to say that K-beauty trends have always left us intrigued. For the last few years, Korean beauty trends and hacks have filled up our social media timelines and let’s just agree they are quite unusual and sometimes even downright weird!

Don’t agree with us? Well, go ahead and check out these five unusual Korean beauty trends that’ll surely make your question your skincare routine altogether.

01. Jamsu

Jamsu

One weird and widely popular K-beauty hack that even Bella Hadid swears by is jamsu. This trend is fairly simple and apparently effective to make your makeup last longer. All you have to do is apply your base makeup (primer, foundation and concealer) and follow this up by patting some loose powder on your face. Once done, just dunk your face in ice-cold water for 15-30 seconds, and that’s it! This trick helps set your makeup and gives you a matte look that lasts all day long.

02. Snail slime

Snail slime

As disturbing as it may sound, snail slime is apparently an effective K-beauty hack for ageing. The snail slime is believed to have healing, nourishing and antioxidant properties that can help lift and tighten your skin. Following this principle, many night creams now use snail secretion in their formula for plump and healthy skin.

03. Nose squeezing

Nose squeezing

This Korean beauty hack apparently helps make your nose skinnier and lifted. A staple in the Korean beauty scene, this technique requires you to wear a nose squeezer tool for approximately 10 to 15 minutes at a time to get the shape you desire.

04. Salmon eggs

Salmon eggs

Salmon eggs for us means sushi, but apparently, the Koreans have found a way to make it work for your skin too! Salmon eggs are high in vitamins and minerals and are said to improve your skin tone and texture and even fight acne and prevent dark spots and fine lines. Many Korean beauty companies use this ingredient as a staple in their creams and skincare products.

05. Double Cleansing

Double Cleansing

K-beauty is all about keeping your skin clean and healthy. Since cleansing is such an important aspect of our skincare routine, Koreans believe in leaving no stone unturned for this step. They recommend double cleansing, especially if you wear makeup, to ensure your skin is deeply cleansed and leaves no dirt or clogged pores behind. They first go for an oil-based cleanser like the Lakmé Absolute Argan Oil Radiance Rinse Off Cleansing Oil to remove all traces of makeup. This is followed by a cream or gel-based face wash like the Lakmé Blush & Glow Berry Smash Gel Face Wash to deeply clean your pores and eliminate any remaining dirt.
