Stress is the leading cause of a number of issues in our body. It not only affects the health of your heart and gut, but the signs of stress are also visible on the skin. Social distancing, self-isolation and fear of the pandemic have only led to a rise in stress levels. If you’ve started noticing dullness, breakouts or excess oil on your face recently, this could be due to stress.
Anxiety and stress release cortisol in the body which slows down the production of collagen. When collagen production is reduced, your skin starts appearing mature and dull. Therefore, it is important that you learn the right way to de-stress your skin.
Calm those facial muscles

Even mild levels of stress can cause frown lines on the face. Be aware of your facial movements, especially while working. A good idea is to place a small mirror on your work desk, this way you will be aware of your facial movements and relax those muscles when you start to frown or worry.
Stay hydrated

Another cause of dull skin is not dehydration. Not drinking enough water can cause your skin to age prematurely and make the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines more prominent. Thus, it’s necessary that you drink a minimum of eight glasses of water every day.
Get enough sleep

Stress and anxiety can hamper your sleep pattern; in some cases, it may even cause sleeplessness or insomnia. Lack of sleep can lead to fluid gathering in your undereye area resulting in undereye bags. Try switching off your gadgets atleast one hour before you head to bed; this will help you sleep faster and better.
Use a face mask

Face masks are touted to be the most relaxing and calming beauty activities to indulge in; they’re not only beneficial for your skin but also relax your body and mind. Apply a face mask or sheet mask such as the Pond’s Skin Brightening Serum Mask With Vitamin E & Niacinamide + Sea Daffodil on your face at least twice a week and relax.
Meditate

Some of your favourite celebrities who have amazing skin practice yoga and meditation for better skin. Why? Because simple breathing exercises can relax your mind and body. If you wish to de-stress your skin and body, meditate every day for at least 10 minutes.
