Being a college student isn’t easy. Other than the hundred things you’re planning and juggling, you also want to make a statement every once in a while. One of the easiest and most affordable ways to do so is by changing your hairstyle, but who’s got the money for that? Thankfully, you don’t need a fancy cysteine treatment or blow-out, You can simply fake a few hair looks and look like you just came out of the salon.
Not all hair looks suit every face shape, but there are some that any college-going girl can sport without a second thought. These are chic, easy and don’t need you to make a big hair commitment! So, if you’re ready to perk up your boring hair look, read on to see what we have in store for you.

Faux lob
You’ve spent the last few years growing out your hair, so going for a lob or bob is a decision you’re not too sure about. We get it! But everyone in college is sporting it, right? Well, we’ll show you how to fake it; grab large sections of hair and curl them using a curling iron to add texture and subtract length. Then tie a loose braid, leaving the top layer of your hair free. Now tuck the braid under and secure using bobby pins, pull out some more layers of hair to hide the tuck. Tease, scrunch and slay that faux lob!

Asymmetrical faux pixie
Yes, there’s a way to fake a pixie without going for the big cut. It’s simple! Grab all your hair into a ponytail on the top of your head. Twist it and place it on the crown area in the front, secure it in place using a couple of bobby pins. Fan the ends and let part of it fall on your forehead like a fringe and the rest at the back of your head. Backcomb the ends to add volume and make the faux pixie look more real.

Voluminous ponytail
Does your ponytail look flat and lifeless? Adding that bounce and volume does not always require a hair spa or extensions. Section your hair into two halves horizontally, grab the top section and pin it. Now take the lower section to make a ponytail as you normally would, make it as high as you desire. Make another ponytail right on top of the lower one and secure with hair ties. Lift the top ponytail up and backcomb it using a brush to add volume. Place it back and there you have it; a thicker and more voluminous ponytail!

Fake bang topknot
Bangs can frame your face nicely and enhance your features, but never make the mistake of cutting bangs on your own. If you feel like sporting bangs, use this fake bang topknot look instead. Start by making a high ponytail and securing it with a hair tie. Take a small section from the ponytail and place it in the front to create bangs, secure using bobby pins. Fan out the hair of your ponytail and twist it around to form a bun, secure with bobby pins. You can use a curling iron to lift the bangs a bit and make them look more natural.
