5 hairstyling hacks to get you ready for those last-minute video calls

Thanks to the lockdown, we’re presented with a new set of work emergencies. From scrambling for WiFi to meet deadlines to throwing on a shirt over PJs to look professional for a video call… we’ve done it all. While a little clothing change and lipstick could help you save face on these emergency video calls, your hair can sometimes be a dead giveaway, revealing that you’ve actually been sitting in bed all day.

Well, not anymore. We’re about to reveal five of our favourite hairstyling hacks that are getting us through this lockdown. No matter how last-minute your video call might be, these hair hacks will fix that bedhead and get you looking presentable in under 5 minutes!

01. The basic bun with a twist

If you’ve been lazing around in a messy bun all day, it’s time to spruce it up. Simply switch to a side parting and braid the front of your hair. Take styling notes from Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and pull your braid along with the rest of your hair into a mid-rise bun.

A pretty hairstyle like this, however, looks best when your hair has that natural shine. So instead using hairspray, start using the Sunsilk Stunning Black Shine Shampoo. Infused with an Amla Pearl complex, this shampoo ensures upto 24-hour shine from the very first wash. So you’ll always have super shiny hair on video calls!

02. Accessories FTW!

So what if you couldn’t wear your summer hair accessories to your favourite tropical vacay destination this year? Use them to amp up your at-home hair for a last-minute video call with your boss. A headscarf here or a silky ribbon there; you can hide so many of your hair sins with them!

03. The 1-minute low bun

This one is for lazy girls! There is nothing chicer than a loose low bun to sport for a last-minute video conference meeting. Section your hair into a half centre part and backcomb the crown section. Follow this up with a casual low bun, keeping it loose around the crown and sides. Pull out some loose tendrils from the front of your hair and near your ears to lightly frame your face.

To enhance the natural texture and fall of your hair, make sure it is hydrated from deep within. Treat your name to a deep conditioning routine once a week with the TRESemme Spa Rejuvenation Conditioner for salon-like hair at home.

04. The 2-minute stylish ponytail

Instead of haphazardly pulling your hair into a ponytail, use this hack to get a stylish one instead. Spritz some heat protectant spray and tie your hair into a high pony. Split the ponytail into three thick sections and work your curling iron on them. Once finished, shake your ponytail to blend the sections together. You can even run your fingers through the curls to even them out.

Finish with the Dove Elixir Hair Fall Rescue Rose & Almond Hair Oil, which can be used as a leave-in serum for that healthy shine.

Baby hair and flyaways can ruin even the prettiest hairstyle, but we have a hack to fix that. Just comb, tie or braid your hair as usual. Then spritz a little of the Tresemme Compressed Micro Mist Invisible Hold Natural Finish Level 2 Hair Spray on a baby toothbrush and smooth back those baby hairs. Bet you they won’t budge all day.

For long hair, you can simply pull your hair to one side and insert a couple of bobby pins behind your ear to hold it all in place.
