Half ups and top knots are two of our favourite go-to hairstyles because the messier they are, the better they look. They are the easiest to create when travelling or when you simply don’t have a mirror around. Combine these two hairstyles and you will get a half-up top knot. Want to spruce it up further, simply add braids. Sounds exciting, no?

Step 01: Grab a wide section of hair from the centre of your crown area and separate it from the rest of your hair and clip it

Step 02: Tie the loose hair into a ponytail to keep it out of the way

Step 03: Unclip the top section and from your hairline and start creating a Dutch braid along the centre of the head

Step 04: Once the braid reaches the back of your head, gather all the remaining hair and tie into a messy top knot. Secure with bobby pins

Step 05: Untie the ponytail at the back and add some waves using a curling iron to finish off the look.
