For a dinner date or the movies, straight hair has always been the hairstyle of choice. But what if, this weekend, you change things up a bit by opting for curly hair instead? If you only have a hair straightener at your disposal, you might think you have a problem but we disagree. That’s because there is a nifty way to curl your tresses without using a hair curler and here’s how…

sunsilk lusciously thick and long shampoo and conditioner

Before you begin, wash your hair with the Sunsilk Lusciously Thick and Long Shampoo and Conditioner. Its Keratin Yoghurt Complex nourishes hair from the roots. Therefore, no matter how you style it, you’ll only be dealing with long, thick hair. Once dry, spritz your hair with the Toni & Guy Heat Protection Mist. Its Anti-Static Control will retain your style for longer and minimise damage.

section your hair into top

Step 1 – Section your hair into top, crown and bottom layers. Then, further divide each layer into a 1-inch section that can be twisted into a curl.

place the straightener towards the hair length

Step 2 – Place the straightener towards the upper end of your hair length (around an inch or two from your roots.) This will form a curl from the upper hair section until the end.

slowly slide straightener down the length of the hair

Step 3 – Slowly slide the straightener down the length of the hair, making sure to turn it while doing so. Ensure that your straighter is pointed upwards to create a large curl around the plates of the iron.

turn the straightener to formed curl

Step 4 – As you move towards the end, turn the straightener to ensure a well formed curl.

Step 5 – Voila! A beautiful curl! Now continue the process on each inch section, working through the layers from the bottom till the top.
