Weekends are the perfect time to pamper your tresses and give them all the TLC they deserve. If you’re looking for the perfect hair care routine, you’ve come to the right place. Read on for the ultimate 7-step hair care routine to pamper your tresses with this weekend.
Step #1: Hair oil
Oiling your hair is an essential step in a weekend hair care routine to regain all the lost moisture and repair frizz and damaged cuticles. So, before dipping your fingers in other hair care products, grab your choice of hair oil, warm it for a few mins and apply it to your scalp and tresses. Be sure to gently massage your head to stimulate blood circulation for hair growth. Keep it on for 1-2 hours.
Step #2: Steam
Steaming helps open up the hair cuticles, allowing the oil to penetrate deeper into the scalp and provide maximum hydration. It also promotes blood circulation, which in turn promotes healthy hair growth. If you don’t have one of those mini steamers, you can simply do the hot towel treatment. Just dip a soft fabric towel in a bowl of hot water, wring it nicely and make sure it’s not scalding. Then, before the heat evaporates, quickly wrap the damp towel over your head. Keep it on for 10 minutes and repeat two more times.
Step #3: Shampoo
Now, it’s time to wash the oil off. Use a mild shampoo like the Love Beauty & Planet Argan Oil & Lavender Aroma Shampoo that has no sketchy ingredients like parabens, silicones and harsh chemicals. Infused with moisturising Moroccan argan oil, organic coconut oil and hand-cut French lavender, this shampoo is like a refreshing glass of mocktail for your hair. And oh, it perfectly cleanses the hair and fights frizz to give you smoother, manageable tresses.
Step #4: DIY hair mask
Moving on, it’s now time to pamper your hair with a DIY hair mask. Masking once a week is highly recommended as it deeply replenishes your tresses and makes them more lustrous. Plus, it also gets rid of frizz and makes your hair strong and shiny.
Mix 2 tbsp aloe vera with 2 tbsp yoghurt and 1 tsp cinnamon powder in a bowl. Apply it on your hair as well as scalp and gently massage for 5-10 minutes. Let it air dry and sit for 15 more minutes before you wash it off with water. If required, use a little shampoo to cleanse the residue thoroughly. Benefits? While aloe vera retains moisture in the hair, cinnamon brings its anti-fungal goodness, and yoghurt works well to combat dandruff and itchy scalp.
Step #5: Condition
Now it’s time to move on to conditioning your hair as usual. Conditioning locks in hydration and makes your hair easier to manage. Use the Love Beauty & Planet Argan Oil & Lavender Aroma Conditioner to nourish your tresses. It’s formulated with rich ingredients like Moroccan argan oil and organic coconut oil that moisturise your tresses and leave your tresses soft and smooth. Apply the product from mid-length to the ends of hair (avoid the scalp). Wait for 3-4 minutes and rinse it off with cold water, as the cool temperature closes hair cuticles that opened during the steaming sesh.
Step #6: Serum
It’s now time to lock in the moisture using a hair serum. Use a leave-in hair serum or argan oil to coat hair with active ingredients that de-frizz your tresses and make them manageable and lustrous. Remember, less is more. Take a few drops on your palms and apply them to your hair, from mid-length to tips.
Step #7: Air-dry, FTW!
You may rely on a quick blow dry sesh to dry your tresses during the weekdays. But weekends are different. Allow your tresses to air-dry, and use a wide-tooth comb to detangle your tresses to avoid hair breakage.
