No matter what your hair type, length or texture, hair breakage is a common hair woe that most women deal with on a daily basis. However, those who have frizzy, dry hair with lots of split ends experience more hair breakage than others. Hair care is not the simplest of tasks, but when done right it is not difficult either. All you got to do is form the right habits and be gentle with your mane.

Today, we are here to help you break some hair care habits that are damaging your tresses and causing them to breaks. Here are a few hair care tweaks you need to make right away.

Tugging on tangles

Removing tangles from dry and curly hair can be quite a task, but avoid tugging on them, this will make your strands weak and cause them to break. Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to get rid of knots and tangles. Also, avoid using a comb or brush on wet hair. Remove the knots when hair is damp to prevent breakage.

Excessive use of heat styling tools

Using heat styling tools once in a while is okay, but excessive use can rob the moisture from your strands. The heat from these tools can be quite damaging for your hair; therefore, it’s recommended to not use them frequently. Also, when you do use a straightener or curler, don’t forget to first protect your hair by using the Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray to prevent heat damage.

Brushing your hair too often

Have you heard about brushing your hair 100 times a day to improve its quality and health? Well, that’s nothing but an old wives tale you need to stop believing in. Brushing your hair too often can cause the ends to become dry and lead to split ends, which eventually cause hair breakage. Put that brush down and only use it only 2-3 times a day.

Rubbing hair vigorously with a towel

Picking a towel and rubbing hair vigorously is what most women do when they are getting late and want to dry their hair quickly. Avoid doing that as the friction causes your hair to break easily; instead, take a cotton t-shirt and wrap it around your head to soak the excess water.
