Hair colour trends come and go every year and this year too, we saw a bunch of trends take the spotlight. While some of them really struck a chord with us, some of them didn't really make a mark, so we passed on them. Here's a roundup...

This hair colour is something that one really can't define, but all we know is that it's got panels of brown mixed with blonde in a way that none of them separately stands out, but as a whole, gives you a stunning shade for your tresses.

Last year, the colour red was a rage and almost everyone was seen dyeing their hair a stark, bright shade of red. This year, a toned down version of the reds in the form of rusty, warm coppers was more popular. This is the colour achieved when the bright reds fade out, done with hints of brown to add a natural element to the hair!

Ash blonde is perhaps the biggest hair colour trend of 2017 and we don't see why it shouldn't be. Starting off with darker roots, this colour transitions into a beautiful ash blonde towards the ends! Celebrities like Amanda Seyfried and Tyra Banks amongst the others were seen rocking this colour this year.

Hygge hair was trending this year for all the right reasons! Hygge (pronounced hue-gah) is basically a Danish concept that embraces the power of warmth and comfort, in the form of candles, furnishings, warm drinks etc. and that concept transcended into hair as well! Goes without saying, shades of warm browns, auburns and caramels are used to paint your locks making it the perfect colour for the winters! Turns out, just yesterday Priyanka Chopra debuted a version of this colour for the new season of Quantico, on her Instagram page.

This trend was huge this year thanks to celebrities like Katy Perry and Cara Delevingne sporting icy platinum locks. While it worked like magic in the west, we would stay away from this colour for a lot of reasons – Indians may have to bleach their hair to the power of volume 30 or even 40 to achieve this, which may not be the healthiest option considering all the damage our hair faces daily. Also, it's a hair colour that may not work on most Indian skin tones.

This high contrasting root trend was an extension to the platinum hair colour trend, where the roots would be completely opposite (dark) to the rest of the hair. We honestly don't think it looks flattering with the platinum and hence this trend has failed to make a mark on us! This year, we saw fashion colours and bright hues take a backseat as we embraced simplicity and minimalism and we loved it. Wonder what's in store for us next year? We can't wait!
