In case you haven’t heard yet, braids are big RN and taking over the hair world. We saw it on and off the runway with many celebrities sporting different versions of braided hairstyles. From waterfall to tousled, intricate braids aren’t going anywhere, not this season at least. One of the braided hairdos that really caught our eye recently is the faux mohawk French braid. This crafty take on your classic French braid is gorgeous and totally steal-worthy.

Not sure how to work a faux mohawk French braid? It is a regular French braid that is twisted and folded up, upon itself to look like a faux Mohawk with lots of added texture. Here is a complete breakdown of the stunning braided ‘do so you can recreate the look easily even without a stylist.

Step 1:

Brush your hair and backcomb it at the crown to tease and create a bouffant and add bobby pins to secure.

Step 2:

Pull your hair in a low ponytail and secure with a clear hair tie.

Step 3:

Braid the ponytail in a three-strand braid like you would normally and secure with another clear tie when you reach the end.

Step 4:

Tug and pull the braided strands lightly to make it flatter and tousled. Hold the end of the braid and flip it, bringing it close to the crown.

Step 5:

Tuck the end of the braid inside and hold the braid against your head so as it make it appear folded.

Step 6:

Pin the folded braided using bobby pins and secure and tuck in any loose ends nicely. Finish with a spritz of hairspray to keep it in place.
