If you can amp up your athleisure fashion game, you can definitely add more glamour to your athleisure hairstyle too. Ditch the regular (and oh-so-boring) ponytails and top-knots for a more sophisticated and sassier hairdo. We’re talking about double Dutch braids!

Double Dutch braids are suitable for both long and short hair, and the best part about this hairstyle is that it will help keep sweat at bay. You no more have to deal with sticky, sweaty hair at the end of a pumped-up workout session. This quick and easy-to-create hairstyle may need some practice initially, but once you master it there’s just no looking back! Here’s a step-by-step tutorial to help you ace the look:

step by step doble dutch braid

Step 01: Run a wide-tooth comb through your hair to remove any knots or tangles

Step 02: Next, take a rat-tail comb to create a clean centre part that extends down to your neck

Step 03: To start work on one side, make sure you clip the other side or else you may end up taking hair from the wrong side and messing it all up. So, clip it out of the way and focus on just one side

Step 04: Divide the left section (or right, whichever you prefer to work with first) into three tiny pieces and weave a classic Dutch braid. The right piece goes under the middle and the left goes under the middle, add more pieces from the root

Step 05: Continue braiding all the way down to the end and secure it with a clear elastic

Step 06: Repeat the same on the other side, and finish off with a hairspray to hold the style in place.
