With the ongoing nationwide lockdown, we are all forced to stay indoors 24/7. While some are super bored at home with nothing much to do, others (the smart ones) have resorted to making use of all the extra time at hand to do things they’ve always wanted to.
Beauty enthusiasts are making use of their time by pampering themselves with at-home beauty treatments and trying out whacky makeup trends (wavy brows, anyone?) that they secretly wanted to. IMHO, social distancing is the perfect excuse to give all those trends a try. I mean, think about it, once this ends, you’re going to be caught up in your hectic life once again and continue complaining about how you don’t have time to do things you love. Amirite?
So while you practise social distancing to keep yourself and others safe amid this pandemic, here are some beauty trend and treatments you should be trying at-home, because why not?
- Exfoliate your body
- Start using retinol in your skincare
- Train your hair to get used to not being washed every.single.day
- Try those crazy makeup trends
- Foot care
Exfoliate your body

Exfoliating your face regularly is stale news. During this quarantine, we recommend that you start exfoliating your hands, feet and torso too. Just like your face, the skin on your body is always in need of some TLC as well.
Start using retinol in your skincare

Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve already heard of the many benefits of retinol for skincare. This beauty elixir can be used to treat acne, keep premature signs of ageing at bay and improve skin texture. However, this ingredient is potent and causes your skin to turn very dry and sensitive when used for the first few times. Also, retinol makes your skin more photosensitive too, thus, now is the perfect time to get your skin used to this miracle ingredient since you won’t be stepping out in the sun amid the lockdown.
Train your hair to get used to not being washed every.single.day

If you are someone who usually washes their hair every single day because of greasy scalp issues, now could be the perfect time to stop doing that. When you stop washing your hair every day, you train your hair to become less greasy over time. If you were hesitant to avoid wash days due to the fear of walking around in greasy hair, consider the lockdown as the perfect excuse to go easy on those harsh shampoos that force your scalp to overproduce oil
Try those crazy makeup trends

If you’ve always wanted to try a graphic neon eyeliner or blushadow but were too shy to do so, now is the perfect time to try them. Go all out and break those beauty barriers you’ve set for yourself. Who knows, you could walk out of this quarantine with a newfound love for bold makeup looks.
Foot care

In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, more often than not, we completely forget to care for our feet. Therefore, now is a great time to indulge in some foot care. An at-home foot peel is a great way to show your feet some TLC. These peels contain chemical exfoliants that slough off dead skin to reveal soft, smooth feet. However, the results aren’t quick to appear and the process can last up to two weeks. Throughout this duration, you’ll be shedding skin and how. But hey, atleast you’re not subjected to judgemental stares from anyone (expect your annoying sibling that is).
