Why we love them…

We’d been reading about gel based manicures on all the international beauty blogs for far too long before we landed on the Lakmé Gel Stylist Nail Colours. Obviously, we had to give them a go and though we admit we were spoilt for choice with the palette of colours, we were more than pleased with the results!

If one too many salon manicures pinch your wallet (as they do ours,) we wouldn’t recommend anything other than the Gel Stylist range. They’re rich colours that deliver that salon like plumpy high shine without the odd bubbles or hard brush strokes. We love!

We can safely say that their shade card is unparalleled! The range stretches from the most subtle beige and champagne shades you could wear to work to the most popping pinks and fuchsias if your hands are in dire need of a face lift or even the riches reds and maroons for blossoming brides. No more bare nails.

How do you use it?
Twist cap and remove the excess product while removing the brush out.
Place on the centre part of the nail just below the cuticle and drag below.
Repeat process on both sides of the centre line to ensure that there are no empty spots on the nail.

How much do they cost?
₹400 for 5 ml

Vinegar and lemon juice

Vinegar and lemon juice are both acidic so they help in dissolving the nail enamel with them once you rub the cotton ball on your nails. To make this, you need equal amounts of vinegar and lemon in a small bowl. Mix these together and dip a cotton ball into it. Post this, place the cotton ball on your nail for about 5 seconds and rub it on. Repeat this again in order to ensure that all the nail polish is off the nails.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste is one of the most effective ways to remove nail varnish if you’ve emptied your nail polish remover bottle up. This is because much like removers, toothpastes also contain ethyl acetate that is known to break down the nail polish easily. Take some amount of toothpaste and rub using the cotton ball immediately. The polish will come out with the toothpaste. Cheap and effective, this one has got to be tried out.

Alcohol

This method is absolutely simple; just take a piece of cotton ball dipped in alcohol and rub it over your nails. This process will easily remove the nail varnish. Besides, rubbing alcohol will keep your nails away from any infection since it has anti-bacterial properties.

If you’ve been taking note of fashion trends, you would know that the chevron print is having its moment right now. While it’s a hugely popular print on outfits, nail art studios too have taken on this pattern. While you’re at it, make sure you break the pattern by alternating between black-and-white chevron nails and plain coral nail paint on your toes.

Don’t know about you but yellow and grey colour combos always get our love. Try this combo on your toe nails but jazz it up with a geometric pattern. Alternate between grey and yellow nails to make things fun.

Make thin-lined triangles with the yellow over the grey paint while a slanting line with the grey over the yellow paint would do the trick. Red and white floral nails? Yes, please! While this one might require practice but once you get the hang of it, it’s going to fetch you so many compliments!

Black nail paint lovers, why not add a bit of fun to your black nails by making the cutest sunflowers on them. Agreed that this one might be a tough task so limit the sunflowers to the thumb nails and paint the other nails all-black.
