New year, new skin: 5 skincare habits to adopt in 2021

2021 is here, which means it's that time of the year when you promise to start eating healthy, be more active, quit smoking and form other such New Year’s resolutions. While you are at it, how about developing better skincare habits too? While we are not sure if you can stay away from that delicious (sugar-loaded) pastry and achieve your desired goal, we are sure adopting a few skincare habits will definitely make your skin glow.

Say goodbye to your skin woes and hello to flawless skin in 2021 with these five skincare habits.

01. Understand your skin’s needs

Stay hydrated

The needs of your skin keep changing with age and seasons. For example, you need to incorporate more hydrating ingredients during the winter months. Form a resolution to take a good look at your skin and notice your concerns at the start of each season. Then, build a routine and include products that tackle these issues. Visit a dermatologist for an in-depth analysis.

02. Don’t pick at your skin

Stay hydrated

Everybody knows picking at your skin or popping pimples is one of the worst skin care habits. It can lead to scarring and also delays the healing of blemishes. So, this year, decide to finally break the habit and keep your hands away from your face. And even if you have to touch your face, make sure you do so with clean hands.

03. Get massaging

Stay hydrated

Massaging is as good for your skin as it is for your body. Instead of dabbing or dragging your skincare products on the face, massage it in an upward circular motion. This will help absorb the product better and improve blood circulation and relax your facial muscles, giving your face a healthy glow.

04. Embrace minimalism

Stay hydrated

This year, embrace minimalism and stick to the basics. Give your elaborate multi-step skincare routine a break and use a few potent products that actually work. A CTM routine with sunscreen will be enough during the day. At night, use a serum that contains ingredients like vitamin C, niacinamide and other antioxidants to tackle more than one skin concern.

05. Stay hydrated

Stay hydrated

Last but not least, staying hydrated is very important. A lot of your skin and health issues can be addressed by keeping yourself hydrated and including a lot of fluids in your diet. Drink at least 8-10 tall glasses of water daily. Since it flushes toxins out of your body, your skin will become clear and healthy.
