Choose stripes with embroidery
Classic striped shirts or dresses topped with applique floral embroidery never fail to make a statement. We love this trend for the summers and recommend light cotton dresses or shirts in the print. Style the shirts with comfy denims and the dresses with a pair of sneakers for an off-duty look.
Opt for striped overalls
You can never go wrong with nautical stripes—but our favourite way of wearing them has to be in the form of overalls where the print dominates your entire look. Opt for vertical striped jumpsuits that will add length to your frame and make you appear taller.
Combine separates in vertical and horizontal stripes
Combining prints always adds an extra edge to the outfit—in this case, instead of two different prints, its two versions of the same print. We love how horizontal and vertical stripes work so well together if styled wisely. Remember to avoid highly contrasting hues for both the separates.
If you have plunging maxi dresses or slip dresses that can’t be worn everyday, layer them over your basic striped t-shirt to transform them into casual, wearable outfits. We love an old-school denim dungaree worn over a striped tee too. You can also do this with fitted striped shirts to ace the dress over shirt trend.
Choose colourful stripes
While black, blue and red stripes fall in our comfort zones and we naturally tend to reach out for those colours, there’s a colossal amount of styles in coloured stripes that we ignore as we tend to think that they’ll come across too ‘in your face’ or stark. If you don’t like the concept of too many colours being thrown into one outfit, opt for stripes in muted colours and light fabrics. Either way, if you’re done and dusted with wearing florals in the summers, coloured striped outfits will prove to be a fun, quirky choice! Just make sure you go easy on the accessories while styling a coloured striped outfit.
