Spring 2018 is all about transparent, flowy, textured sheers as designers like Calvin Klein, Christopher Kane and Victoria Beckham etc. made strong cases for it this season. Sheer is also one of 2018’s biggest trends! From light nets to organza fabrics, we saw sheer in a whole new light on the runways and can’t wait to embrace this trend ourselves.

On the runways

The trend is anything but basic–but the beauty of it is its ability to look effortlessly stylish. For Spring 2018, designers went all out with nets, tulles and other similar fabrics to create pieces unique to their style using lightweight sheer as the focal point.

From Sofia Rykiel’s completely see-through black sheer number to Christopher Kane’s sheer-on-sheer layered outfit, we saw plenty of variations created using this fabric.

Styling sheer

Styling sheer

Styling sheer IRL is different as opposed to what we see on the runways… while on the runways, designers have the liberty to showcase the whole sheer dress over a bikini vibe, making it a wearable option for everyday is something you gotta do. Most women opt out of wearing sheer as they fear that they’ll end up showing too much skin. But, if styled wisely, it can look as work-appropriate or casual as you like it.

Choose delicate sheer lace tops and wear them over contrasting spaghettis–we love monochrome combinations that work best with this kinda style. You can also opt for deep coloured or printed sheer outfits that decrease its see-through intensity.

Sheer Fashion

Another option is to go for outfits that come with sheer detailing–this way, you don’t have to worry about what you need to layer the outfit with. We love this sheer sleeved top that would make for a perfect casual number to wear over your skinny jeans!

With so many ways to play around with this fabric, we’ll surely be embracing this runway-approved trend this season. What about you?
