Celebs who are championing the sustainable fashion movement

The latest buzz words in the fashion industry today are fair trade, sustainable, environment conscious, eco-friendly et al. Fashion brands and celebrities today are increasingly becoming conscious about reducing their carbon footprint on the planet and the increasing number of green carpets we see replacing the red carpets are proof!

While we a BeBeautiful are obviously in favour of the cause, we are also in complete awe of celebrities who are leading the way to eco-friendly fashion by supporting the movement.

Here we are cheering for celebs who are championing the sustainable fashion movement…

Emma Watson

Katrina Kaif

Topping the list of celebs who are promoting fair trade in fashion is our absolute favourite Emma Watson. Over the years, Watson has become an advocate of Women’s rights and environmental change through her work. As the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and as the co-founder of the site ‘Feed Good Style’ dedicated to sustainable fashion, she has contributed immensely to the cause of organic and fair fashion

Stella McCartney

Katrina Kaif

First of her kind, eco-friendly designer Stella McCartney is the pioneer of the sustainable fashion movement. McCartney not only insists on using organic fabrics that are cruelty-free and environment conscious; her studios, stores and offices also run on wind technology. And most importantly – McCarteny’s designs are sustainable without compromising on style.

Rosario Dawson

Katrina Kaif

Actor Rosario Dawson has put in some serious work to promote sustainable fashion and fair trade over the years. Back in 2015 we caught up with Dawson and Manish Malhotra at the Lakmé Fashion Week for the WEvovle program where she spoke passionately about fair trade and creating employment opportunities through fashion. Dawson’s New York based store; Studio 189 is implementing social change through eco-friendly fashion practices and creating employment opportunities – one of her many contributions to the cause.

Dia Mirza

Katrina Kaif

Swedish fashion retail giant H&M, along with Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) recently hosted a preview to introduce the new Conscious Exclusive collection of the brand and Dia Mirza was present to show her support to the cause. One of the first and few Indian celebrities to embrace sustainable fashion – Dia Mirza was quoted saying, “I am huge champion of nature and this line of H&M reflects my personal ethos. I think it’s important to pay attention on how one can reuse and recycle for sustainable fashion.”

Gul Panag

Katrina Kaif

Amongst the many other social causes that Gul Panag is associated with; Shop For Change Fair Trade is one of them. Shop For Change – a citizen action initiative promotes fair trade opportunities for poor farmers of Telangana, Kutch and Vidarbha.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif

Not many people know that this glamorous actor is also a supporter of sustainable fashion. Kaif used an eco-friendly wardrobe for her entire movie Jagga Jasoos in 2017. Almost all the clothes were bought from The Reformation which is based in Los Angeles. The Reformation – is a sustainable fashion brand that upcycles and recycles clothes to make beautiful outfits that are also organic and eco-friendly.
