In the past few weeks Bollywood actresses have been seen on several red carpets dressed quite differently than usual. Wearing trousers, jeans and jumpsuits on the red carpet instead of gowns is a trend that seems to be emerging among the leading ladies of Bollywood and everywhere else too—quite good, given the fact that one can incorporate these items into their everyday wear better than gowns. We bring you some of the best looks from various red carpets and events including MAMI 2015, so that you can work your style to suit this lovely trend!

Deepika Padukone looked stunning in this Balmain jacket which she paired with Stella McCartney jeans. Deepika was also seen wearing a pair of Zara jeans for the Tamasha music launch. Wearing stilettos with jeans is one of the easiest ways to add the x factor to your look, and it also allows for the transformation of the look from day to night.

Kangana Ranaut was spotted in a black and white striped jumpsuit by H&M from the Balmain collaboration. She paired this with round sunglasses, black boots and a black leather jacket, giving her an edgy, rocker look overall. Similar to Deepika, Kangana also wore her hair in a top knot (this seems to be one of the most favoured hair looks with jumpsuits and jeans).

Other ladies were seen wearing trousers and dhoti pants on the red carpet including Pyaar Ka Punchnama actress Sonnalli Seygall and Mini Mathur.

Choosing footwear with trousers in really easy, pick either closed pumps or open toed stilettos for instant style. If you want to wear flats, cuff the trousers at the ankle to avoid them drowning your look and pair them with ankle high boots or with oxfords. But regardless of how you decide to wear this trend, just make sure you embrace it—especially for the winter months!
