8 LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK INSPIRED BLOUSE TRENDS FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON
Written by Chandni GhoshSep 07, 2017
Blouses are an integral part of Indian dressing—be it with sari or lehenga. But if you’re running out of ideas for blouses when it comes to creating a festive look, we’re here to help. From bell-sleeves to lace ups and zippered blouses—there are a bevy of cool options when it comes to creating a blouse for a festive look. Here are some ideas straight from our Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017 album to give you that much-needed blouse inspo. Take a look...
If you happen to be heavy on your waist, don’t wear a blouse that’s midriff-baring and fitted around the waist as that will look rather unflattering. Instead, with an embellished skirt, go for a peplum blouse like we saw at the Amit Aggarwal show at Lakmé Fashion Week this time.
Cutwork
Think a regular blouse is too basic with your lehenga? Go for a cutwork blouse where the edges of the blouse have a gorgeous look. Keep the neck as your prefer but make sure you go dramatic with the cutwork.
Lace up
It was only a matter of time that the lace up blouse trend would spill onto traditional wear. This lace up blouse we saw at the Arpita Mehta show at Lakmé Fashion Week with a Lehenga was one helluva sight. If you want to play the sexy card, look no further than this one for inspo.
Sheer
There’s nothing more feminine than sheer. If you’ve worked hard for those toned arms, a sheer sleeved blouse is perfect for the festive season. Keep the sleeves ruffled or voluminous but the sheer is all you need to stand out.
Cold shoulders
Can’t get enough of the cold shoulder blouse trend? We swear you can copy it for your festive look too. We spotted this choli at the Nachiket Barve show at Lakmé Fashion Week and the cut was just the right kinda inspo we needed for our cool-cum-traditional festive look.
Zipped
If you want to give your lehenga blouse a twist, add a zipper in the middle to lend it a western-cum-desi feel. Create it in a colour that you can wear with a solid coloured sari too. This embroidered one we saw at Neha Agarwal’s show at Lakmé Fashion Week was just perfect. Wasn’t it?
Tassels
Want that wee bit of glitz and glam on your blouse? Take inspo from this one we saw at the Ridhi Mehra show at Lakmé Fashion Week. Not only do beaded tassels look festive but they also help lend drama to just about any simple blouse!
Low neck
A décolletage baring blouse? If you’re daring enough to flaunt it, take inspiration from this one we saw at the SVA show at Lakmé Fashion Week. The red full-sleeved blouse had a dangerously low neckline and we’ve got to say, the model looked every bit the diva in it. Think you can do justice to this look too?
