We know how hard it can be to turn down all those Diwali savouries – That’s why we’re not even asking you to cut down on those calories. Eat all you want for those five days but yes, once the festivities are over, keep a close watch on your diet. To help you take the leap into a post-Diwali detox, we’re listing out some of our favourite healthy (and delish) detox recipes!
Ultra fruit smoothie
You will need 1 cup fresh coconut milk 1 banana, chopped 2 cups raw spinach, washed and chopped
Method Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Why we love it Coconut milk is rich in healthy fats and can work as an alternative to cow’s milk. It is also perfect for vegans and those of you who are lactose intolerant. The coconut milk and banana give the smoothie a much thicker consistency. Scores high in terms of iron content thanks to the spinach in the smoothie.
Ultimate veg smoothie
You will need ½ a beet, chopped ½ a cucumber, chopped 5 carrots, chopped
Method Chop all the ingredients and blend until smooth.
Why we love it A power-packed combination of veggies that score super high on the healthy scale, this fiber-rich juice is a detox must-have. Beets multiply the red blood cells and help to flush out toxins, while cucumber is known to be a natural hydrator as well as an antioxidant. Carrots, on the other hand, are a rich source of Vitamin A as well as C, both of which are beneficial for your skin and hair.
You will need 2 ½ cups papaya, peeled and chopped 1 cup pineapple, peeled and chopped 1 banana, chopped 2 cups spinach 1 stalk of celery ½ cup of water
Method Place all the ingredients in a blender till smooth. Regulate the consistency using water.
Why we love it Both, pineapple and papaya, are very much in season right now. Rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, they’re a delicious excuse to give your tummy a break from all the oily dishes you’ve been bingeing on. Bonus points for both as they have the ability to restore your skin’s health as well.
