While the use of baking soda may seem for many to be limited to baking only, it also has a lot to offer to your beauty, skin and dental routine. It is an extraordinarily versatile chemical compound which can be used to treat a lot of different issues.
Oral health

If you are dealing with problems such as the yellowing of teeth, baking soda is a natural option to brighten them up. Make a paste-like mixture of baking soda and water and apply this concocted toothpaste onto your brush. Alternatively, you can also sprinkle baking soda on your toothpaste to get a similar cleansing effect. It sets you free from the worry of dental plaque. Baking soda can also be used to get rid of oral odour as it has anticarious properties, along with abrasive ones. Add one teaspoon of baking soda to water and rinse your mouth thoroughly with it. It neutralizes the acidic pH of your mouth, helping you avoid bad odour and cavities. It reaches all corners of your mouth and even the fissures of your teeth, gums and tongue, places that are often left out while brushing.
Exfoliant

As baking soda has a granular texture, it does wonders to your skin when used as an exfoliant. You can mix it with a few drops of water and rub the mixture in a circular manner over your face and other regions. It removes all the impurities on the outer layer of the dermis, leaving behind rejuvenated and smooth skin, although on account of the alkaline nature of the paste, this mixture isn’t recommended for daily use. Finish off by using a gentle moisturizer, as baking soda tends to have a drying effect on your skin. Being a natural astringent, it also helps in cleaning out your pores while shrinking them in size.
Reducing blemishes and marks

The very nature of baking soda is a blessing for your skin. When a paste of baking soda and water is applied on blemishes, it lessens the marks considerably. When regularly applied, baking soda can help speed up your recovery from acne marks while also preventing acne by keeping your pores clean and sealed.
Neck skin

Many of us struggle with darker neck skin as compared to our face. A base made from baking soda and lemon juice should be able to rescue you from this problem. Lemon has a slightly acidic pH which helps to maintain the pH balance of your skin. It also contains vitamin C which gives your skin a collagen boost. The exfoliating and cleansing properties of baking soda, on the other hand, help remove impurities and dead skin cells from your pores.
