Sign #1: He takes priority over your other best friends

You find yourself doing things for him that you wouldn’t do for anyone else—just because. Little presents, little gestures, little jokes, he can have whatever he wants. Your happiness is in-sync with his, so you wouldn’t mind going that extra mile, just to make his day a little brighter.
Sign #2: You’re paying closer attention to his actions

Having been the most clueless person before, you’re now intrigued by the littlest things he does—the way he acts, reacts, his quirks, his traits, you’re observant of everything. To your surprise, you’re also discovering things about him that you happen to like, that you never paid much heed to before.
Sign #3: You don’t have to have a reason to meet him

Because it’s always a good time. So runnings errands, fixing flat tyres, late night walks—just come with! Everything feels so much easier because you’re not conscious anymore, and long silences feel comfortable, and he would never judge you for being weird (chances are he passively admires it), so no fear.
Sign #4: He takes up a major part of your day

He knows everything about your day, each little thing, each mood swing, every microscopic detail about you, that you try to convince yourself into believing he has to know because he’s your best friend! But the truth is, you want him to know, in hopes that he could perhaps learn to admire your little quirks too.
Sign #5: He becomes the only therapist you ever need

He can tolerate your fits and tantrums, and still be there the next morning to motivate you to go out there and slay. He’s also only a phone call away, if not physically there, for you to rant about bad days at work or bad texts from the ex. You trust him. And you know he’s got you, if you ever truly needed him.
Sign #6: You suddenly care about what you look like with him

Yes, he’s seen your hungover face, your sobbing face, your too-many-fries-in-my-mouth face, but hey, a little eyeliner never hurt anyone. Just like showing off your gams in a flirty skater dress (hoping he’d notice) doesn’t either. So yes, obviously, you’d wear it in his favourite colour!
Sign #7: The way he hugs you feels different

What used to be the most casual embrace now feels much warmer, and you wouldn’t mind it lasting a little longer. You’ve also grown a little conscious of his touch. There’s tension in there, one that your mind tries to avoid, but your body speaks a different language. They’re called inner battles.
Sign #8: You get absurdly territorial around him

You’re in denial, but the green monster of jealousy seems to have gotten to you. It feels bizarre and new because you’ve never had to worry about these things before, but now, you find yourself seeking assurance on just where you stand with him.
Sign #9: You start dreaming up possibilities of being with him

Bound to happen with that idle, overthinking mind of yours—thinking up things you shall never speak of. On other fun days, you’d go as far as randomly bringing up NSFW talks with him just for kicks, especially if he’s shy, because you can, and because you wouldn’t mind knowing.
Now, is this wise? Only you can tell. Because what could feel like the merger of two worlds, could also come crumbling down if your paths didn’t intersect. So, be cautious there, for the one thing that’s worse than breaking up with a lover, is breaking up with your best friend.
