After the hot summer weather, the monsoon brings a lot of relief. You may love to go out and get drenched in the rain, but this may not be the best thing for your mane. The toxins and dissolved pollutants in the rainwater are harsh for your hair and scalp; it can lead to problems like frizzy hair, hair fall, dryness, itching and dandruff.

That’s why it’s necessary to show your tresses some extra TLC to keep them happy and healthy during the monsoon. Enter: Nourishing hair masks. Don’t worry; you won’t have to spend extra money buying deep conditioning masks. Here are three DIY hair masks to beat those monsoon hair woes.

1. Hair conditioner + banana mask for frizzy hair

The best way to revive dry and frizzy hair is by using a hair conditioner. While you may already be using one, we’re going to teach you how to turn it into a deep conditioning hair mask.

Method: Take 2 tablespoons of a nourishing hair conditioner; we recommend the Dove Intense Repair Conditioner. It is specifically formulated to repair damaged and frizzy hair and make it resilient to daily damage. Add 1/2 a ripe banana to it and mash it into a smooth paste.  Adding a banana to the mix helps increase hair elasticity and prevents breakage. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave it on for about 45 minutes to an hour and rinse off.

2. Methi + lemon juice mask for dandruff

Methi contains antifungal and antibacterial properties, whereas lemon juice is acidic in nature. Combining both these ingredients makes for the perfect remedy for scalp problems like itchiness and dandruff.

Method: Take 2 tablespoons of methi powder in a bowl and add 2-3 tablespoons of honey to it. You can also add a few drops of fresh lemon juice. Mix the ingredients to get a smooth mixture. Apply all over your hair and scalp and leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water and mild shampoo.

3. Coconut oil + olive oil mask for shiny hair

Hair that lacks shine and lustre needs rich nourishing ingredients. And what works better than oils? Both olive and coconut oil contain many fatty acids that penetrate the hair shaft and nourish each hair strand. Apart from adding shine, this hair mask will also boost hair growth.

Method: Mix 2 tablespoons of coconut oil with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and apply to your hair, focusing on the ends. Wrap your hair into a high bun and let it stay for 30 minutes. Wash off with mild shampoo and lukewarm water.
