As the name suggests, it is a scalp treatment that is used to get rid of dead cells, product build-up and residue so that you are left with a clean scalp. The best part is, you can try it at home with these simple home remedies. So whether it is an itchy scalp or a dry one, begin the scalp scrubbing right away.
Brown sugar and oatmeal scrub
What you need
3 tablespoons of granulated brown sugar
2 tablespoons of finely ground oatmeal
How to use it:
Mix together the brown sugar and oatmeal in a bowl. Wet your hair completely and begin applying the mixture at the root of your hair. Slowly cover your entire scalp with the mixture, rubbing it into the scalp as you apply. Leave it on your hair for 10 minutes and proceed to wash it off thoroughly with a shampoo.
Benefits:
The granulated brown sugar will coarsely exfoliate away any residue which is present on your scalp while the protein content of oatmeal helps to soothe a dry, itchy scalp during the process.
Epsom salt and lime scrub
What you need
4 tablespoons of Epsom salt
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
Water, in proportion
How to use it
Mix the lemon juice and Epsom salt with a few teaspoons of water in a bowl, just to dilute the mixture. Then take the mixture and rub it gently into the roots of your hair. Keep rubbing and continue to do so until you have covered your entire scalp. Leave it for 10 minutes and then wash it off with shampoo.
Benefits:
The minerals present in Epsom salt help aid in the clarification of the scalp effectively. When combined with the Vitamin C of lemon, they work together to repair any scalp damage and strengthen hair growth.
Baking soda and coconut oil scrub
What you need
3 tablespoons of baking soda
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
Water, in proportion
How to use it
Mix the baking soda and coconut oil with a few drops of water, enough to create a paste. Once the mixture is made, immediately begin to scrub it all over the entire area of your scalp. Leave it for 15 minutes and then wash your scalp thoroughly with shampoo.
What good is it?
Baking soda is an ideal exfoliator as it maintains the pH level of your hair while it rids the grime from your scalp. The miraculous coconut oil nourishes the scalp throughout the process so that the scrubbing does not dry it out.
