Step 1: Cleanse
Cleansing your face is an essential step in your skincare routine. If your skin is breaking out, try not to irritate it further with harsh chemicals. Use a face wash that contains benzoyl peroxide as one of its ingredients. Benzoyl peroxide is anti-bacterial and highly effective in treating acne. Once you’re done cleansing, gently pat-dry with a towel, ensuring there’s no tugging and pulling.
Step 2: Use a toner!
Next, moisten a cotton pad with a toner and gently wipe it over your face. Again, stay away from toners that have strong and harsh chemicals. Toning your face is very important irrespective of whether you’re breaking out or not! Toning helps remove excess oil and tighten the pores, thus preventing them from getting blocked.
Step 3: Apply aloe vera or ice gently to the affected area
Sometimes a natural ingredient is all it takes to calm your skin. Just after you’ve applied a toner, put some ice on the affected area. Ice helps constrict the blood vessels and reduce the inflammation. After ice, you can apply some fresh aloe vera gel that also helps calm the skin.
Step 4: Moisturise your skin
Irrespective of your skin type, hydration is crucial. It’s a common myth that moisturiser aggravates pimples. Use a oil-free, gel-based moisturiser to nourish your skin. Avoid rubbing too much as the friction will further cause irritation. Give your skin some R and R—trust us, it’ll thank you for it.
