Dealing with oily skin is a task in itself. Add to that the skin issues that tag along with the summer season, and you've got yourself a recipe for disaster. The soaring temperatures can turn beautifully done up faces into a greasy mess by the end of the day.

Not to mention the constant touch-ups you’re left doing throughout the day to get rid of the shininess and smoothen out the creases. Ever wondered why makeup does not stay put on oily skin during the summer? The answer is simple — the rise in humidity along with the excess sebum production melt makeup off the face.

Switching to mattifying makeup products is your best defence against turning into a gooey mess, but if you want to take some extra measures, we have a neat trick up our sleeve.

This hack is perfect for creating a smudge-proof base that lets your makeup stay on for a long time, even under a mask. Check it out…

The only hack you need to smudge-proof your makeup in the summers

Step 01: Do your skincare routine and make sure to use mattifying skincare products as much as possible. Some of our favourites for the summer are the Lakmé 9 to 5 Matte Moist Mattifying Moisturiser and the Pond’s Sun Protect Non-Oily Sunscreen SPF 30.

Step 02: Once your skincare products are absorbed, use the Lakmé 9 to 5 Naturale Finishing Powder all over your face; pay extra attention to your oily regions like the T-Zone, bridge of the nose, chin, etc.

Step 03: Once the powder is perfectly blended in your skin, spray a mattifying setting spray all over your face and let it dry off completely. Make sure to pick a lightweight formula that is easy to wear all day long.

Step 04: Once the spray is dry, go in with the Lakmé Absolute Undercover Gel Primer, use a clean foundation brush to apply the product on your face. Follow up with your favourite foundation, depending on the kind of finish and coverage you want.
