Besides your liquid liner, blush is another item in your kit that’s hella tricky to work with. It’s really scary how easily you can go wrong with a blush—too little looks off, too much makes you look like a clown. Plus, if you are working with a cream blush, it gets even trickier. I mean, it is super pigmented, smooth and gives a seamless finish, yes; but boy is it difficult to get it right in one go! How to apply? How much to put on? And what’s the technique to blend the product perfectly?
Don’t worry. We might have a trick up our sleeve to get that natural flush right every time. Here it is.
Moisturise your face. Cream blush works better and blends smoother on well-moisturised skin.
Smile a little to find the apples of your cheeks and map the area you want flushed. Relax your face, take your blush (the Lakmé Kareena Kapoor Khan Absolute Cheek Contour is great for this) and glide the blush stick on the cheeks once to get a swipe of colour. If you want more pigment, swipe the stick once more.
Here’s the trick. Use a stippling brush rather than your fingers to blend. Dabbing the colour with your fingertips can leave it patchy, uneven and unblended. Instead of using the brush in a sweeping motion, move it in a swift, stippling motion towards temples. It will make the creamy texture blend easily and perfectly.
Press tissue paper to get excess blush off, if any, and set it with a setting powder or spray for a matte or dewy finish, depending on the kind of look you are going for.
