Before we go on to revealing our DIY remedy, why not prevent this discolouration in the first place? How, you ask? It’s simple; apply a base coat on your nails before applying any nail polish. This forms a protective layer on your nails and prevents unnecessary stains. Also, give your nails a break from dark hues and reds to prevent staining.

How to correct discoloured nails

You will need:
A teeth whitening toothpaste and an old toothbrush.

Step 1: Take the whitening toothpaste and put it on the brush.

Step 2: Gently scrub the nails with this brush until you notice the discolouration disappearing.

Step 3: Soak your hands in warm water for a few minutes (optional).

Step 4: Rinse your hands thoroughly.

Step 5: Apply a hand cream or rub a few drops of your favourite essential oil.

Repeat this process every other day until you get the desired results.
