Since the onset of the global pandemic, a lot of our safety standards have changed, and wearing a face mask has become the new normal. But since a mask covers most of our face, does this mean we have to give up on wearing makeup entirely? Of course not!
If the thought of smudged makeup under your face mask is preventing you from indulging in your daily makeup routine, then fret not; we’ve got you covered.
Read on for some near-genius ways to prevent your face mask from ruining your makeup.
Tip #1: Avoid going overboard with makeup

One of the first things to follow when doing makeup is to avoid wearing too much. Instead of opting for a full coverage foundation along with concealer, it would be better to just use a concealer on your undereye and to spot correct. Alternatively, you can use a light-weight CC cream. Remember, layers of makeup will only increase the chances of smudging.
Tip #2: Use a matte formula
We know that you love your glow-inducing foundation, but that’s not the best choice to wear with a face mask as it can be easily smudged and transferred. If you do need to wear a foundation, it is best to stick to a mineral-based or matte finish one that clings to your skin better and doesn’t move much.
Tip #3: Accentuate your eyes

Playing up your lips may not be the smartest thing to do for obvious reasons, but guess what? This means that you can play up your eyes and really bring out your peepers. From graphic eyeliners to colourful eye makeup looks, there’s so much you can do when it comes to eye makeup.
Tip #4: Opt for nude liquid lipsticks
If you are a lipstick junkie whose makeup look just isn’t complete without a little lippe, we get it. Go ahead and swipe on some lip colour to calm your OCD, but avoid wearing a dark, cream-based colour. Stick to neutrals with a matte finish (preferably liquid mattes) to prevent the lipstick from bleeding or smudging.
Tip #5: Use a setting spray
If you are planning to wear both your makeup and mask for long hours, then we would highly recommend that you finish your makeup with a generous amount of setting spray to seal everything in place. This will ensure that your makeup becomes more resistant to sweat and doesn’t budge.
