If you are anything like us, you’ve probably tried every filter on Instagram stories! While the funny filters that turn you into carrots and bananas are entertaining, we love exploring the beauty ones more. Having said that, our favourite ones remain the dewy, shine-boosting, blurring filters that can help hide the fact that you were up watching Netflix instead of getting a good night’s sleep. Selfies look like a million bucks with these filters on, but did you know there is a way to recreate their effect with makeup as well. We have a quick lesson on recreating the Insta-blur filter effect with makeup right here…

How to recreate the Insta blur makeup effect

Step 01: Start by prepping your skin with a hydrating face oil for that dewy look. A nourishing yet lightweight formula like the Dermalogica Phyto Replenishing Oil will get the job done. Follow it up with the Lakmé Absolute Blur Perfect Primer to fill in the pores and fine lines and give your foundation a smooth canvas to glide on.

Step 02: Mix a luminous liquid foundation with a drop of liquid highlighter to get that lit-from-within glow. A formula like the Lakmé Absolute Argan Oil Serum Foundation not only give you a flawless base but also add another layer of dewiness to your skin. Make sure you’re using a sheer highlighter that does not change the tone of your foundation.

Step 03: Once the foundation is on, it is time to conceal. The trick is to use a smooth formula like the Lakmé Absolute White Intense Liquid Concealer and dot it over areas that need extra coverage. Using your index and middle finger, dab the concealer into the skin. The warmth from your fingers will melt the concealer into the layer of foundation and make it look so natural.

Step 04: For the final step, all you need to do is add a tint. Use a multi-purpose product like the Lakmé 9 to 5 Weightless Mousse Lip and Cheek Color to add warmth to your face. Swipe it on your lips and dab it over apples of your cheeks for a healthy flush of colour.
