Did You Know? You Can Use Coffee Filters As Blotting Sheets… Here’s How

The secret to dewy skin is not always on-point highlighter. Sometimes, actually, most times, it is… yes, you almost guessed it. Sweat! Do not confuse the sweaty glow with a natural, dewy finish. Because remember, if your sweat can make you glow temporarily, it can wear your makeup down permanently. And, you don’t want makeup meltdowns in the middle of important meetings or much-awaited date nights, do you?
If you have oily skin, then you probably are lugging your blotting sheets almost everywhere. These oil-absorbing sheets are a godsend for any girl who wants to reduce the shine on her face. Looking over-shiny can make for really bad pictures, just saying!
Since blotting papers make for such an essential item in your vanity kit, they can prove to be not-so-economical in the long run. But, did you know that you can DIY blotting sheets with an easily available item from your kitchen? Yes! All you need is a pair of scissors and coffee filters. Coffee lovers, rejoice!
The hack
Smooth out a piece of the coffee filter to make it flat. This will make it easier to cut it into tinier pieces. Then, grab a pair of scissors and cut it into four equal-sized pieces. Take one piece and blot as you normally would, concentrating on your T-zone, chin and forehead, as these are the oiliest parts of your face. Make sure to press the sheet into your skin firmly so that it properly absorbs the oil from your face. Avoid rubbing the sheet against your skin.
Blotting sheets and coffee filters are made from similar materials, which is why they work to absorb oil from your skin. The best part is that coffee filters have no added ingredients or fragrance, so you don’t have to worry about any side-effects like skin irritation. And, if you’re a coffee-lover, then you obviously have stacks of coffee filters lying around. So, no investing required there!
