Did you know that “Invisible eyeliner” is a thing! Yes, it’s famously called tightlining in the glamour industry. This backstage trend is the secret to slaying any eye makeup look. While makeup mavens are a pro at tightlining, newbies may be clueless about why is everyone talking about it.
Firstly, tightlining is no easy feat especially if you’re new to this concept. It’s a technique in which you line the upper and lower waterline to create a fuller, wide-eyed look and at the same time create an illusion of dark, dense lash roots. So, how do you master the art of tightlining like a pro? Here’s a step-by-step guide...
- Step 1: Lift eyelid with your fingers
- Step 2: Reach out for your liner
- Step 3: Go ahead and tightline
- Step 4: Curl your lashes
Step 1: Lift eyelid with your fingers
Lining your upper lash line is not as easy as the lower lash line. Therefore, it’s important that you find your comfortable position before reaching out for your eyeliner. All you need to do is use your finger to lift up your eyelid so you can clearly see the base of your upper lash line.
Step 2: Reach out for your liner
Avoid using a pointy liner pencil and instead opt for an angled brush. Dampen the brush and dip it into black eyeshadow or gel eyeliner. Ensure the bristles of your brush are coated with just enough pigment.
Step 3: Go ahead and tightline
Just how you would line your waterline, similarly, take the brush and start lining the upper lash line. Use short strokes and wiggle the brush back and forth to properly work the product into the undersides of your lash line. And, voila! You’ve successfully filled the gap between your lashes and eye liner.
Step 4: Curl your lashes
Remember that tightlining is incomplete without enhancing your lashes. Therefore, finish off by curling your lashes to achieve the maximum tightline effect. And lastly, add mascara.
