What exactly are eyebrow extensions?
Just like hair and eyelash extensions, eyebrow extensions involve attaching fibres with a clear medical-grade adhesive to give your eyebrows more volume and length. The natural fibres are attached directly onto your skin or to the eyebrows itself. The fibres of brow extensions are a lot finer as this is what gives them a more natural appearance.
How is it different from microblading?
Although microblading and eyebrow extensions both aim at making your eyebrows look thicker, that’s where the similarities end! Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo that delivers the appearance of a thicker brow using hair-like strokes. But unlike eyebrow extensions, this technique lacks dimension. Secondly, brow extensions are fibres that are attached to the surface of the skin using glue as opposed to a needle that pierces the epidermis in the microblading process. If for some reason, you are not happy with the results of microblading, you can’t undo it. But with eyebrow extensions, simply apply the glue remover and they come off.
How long does the procedure take?
Depending on the length and thickness you are looking for, this process can take anywhere between 30 minutes to two hours. Each fibre is meticulously applied, strand by strand, with tweezers. These fibres are applied in such a way that they follow the natural growth pattern of your brows. This is also one of the things that give eyebrow extensions a lot more dimension than microblading.
What would my brows look like once the procedure is complete?
Once the process is complete, your brow extensions should ideally resemble freshly threaded or waxed eyebrows, but a lot better with zero imperfections. The bottom part of your brows would be sharp, clean, and aligned, and the overall shape should look neat.
How long do the extensions last?
Like every sort of extension, how you care for it decides how long the fibres will last. Take care to not let water touch your eyebrows for the first 48 hours. Avoid touching them, sleeping on them, using oil-based products, and applying makeup over them. Only dab the area with water using a damp cloth. If you properly care for them, they will last for about 2 weeks.
