With little effort and a few products, you can easily take good care of your lips. It doesn’t have to be a stressful or tedious process. Lip care can easily be incorporated into your beauty regimen.
Here’s a guide on how to take care of your lips:
- Start by exfoliating:
- Moisturising your lips:
- Keep lip balm handy:
- Licking lips is a no-no!
- Ditch matte lipsticks!
Start by exfoliating:

Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells and dry skin, and speeds up the process of skin renewal. It keeps your lips healthy and free from impurities. You can easily incorporate exfoliation in your beauty regimen with this quick and convenient DIY recipe:
Ingredients: Honey and sugar.
Start off by mixing one teaspoon of honey with two teaspoons of sugar. Apply this thick mixture onto your lips and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Then, rinse it off with cold water and face wash.
Follow the exfoliation with moisturising. For hydrating, you can always opt for ingredients such as beeswax, Shea butter or coconut oil.
Sugar acts as an effective natural exfoliant whereas honey acts as a brilliant moisturizer. Honey also helps lighten your lips.
Ensure that you don’t go overboard though, and remember to be gentle. Repeat this process twice a week.
Moisturising your lips:

With the winter upon us, our lips are bound to get chapped on account of the cold and harsh weather. Since lips have a thinner layer of skin as compared to the rest of your body, they tend to lose moisture more easily.
The best way to provide relief to dry, flaky lips is to use Vaseline to provide them with the necessary hydration.
When lips lose their moisture, they dry out and become cracked. Vaseline forms a protective layer on your lips, and penetrates deep to speed up the natural process of renewal.
Apply Vaseline every day, especially in the winters.
Keep lip balm handy:

Lip balm is pretty easy to carry on the go and can help prevent dry, chapped lips.
Lip balm hydrates your lips, making them look supple. Opt for a lip balm that has SPF, since it will also protect your lips from the harmful UV rays of the sun.
So before you head out, make sure to carry lip balm along with you. Just like sunscreen, keep on re-applying lip balm at regular intervals of time.
Licking lips is a no-no!

If you’re used to licking your lips a lot, when you are nervous or even otherwise, we have some bad news for you!
While providing quick relief, it does more damage than good. It may not seem as serious a problem, but it can cause your lips to become really dry, trapping you in a vicious cycle. So change this habit as soon as possible.
Ditch matte lipsticks!

Whether you are heading for a meeting or a night out with your entourage, you might want to skip those matte lipsticks. Although they look quite attractive, they could be the reason why your lips have lately become dry.
Choose lipsticks wisely. Ensure that you check for the ingredients, actively seeking those such as vitamin E or glycerine.
Also, make sure that you apply lip balm prior to applying lipsticks.
