If you have short nails, you might have repeatedly been told to stick to nude nail polishes as they give the illusion of length. While that’s not entirely false, we came across this awesome new nail art trend called the rainbow nail art that includes the use of several colours and is perfect for short nails. The best part? It’s super simple to create and doesn't require any mani skills.
So without further ado, let’s find out how to create this beautiful rainbow nail art design in a few simple steps.
- Step 01: Prep your nails
- Step 02: Apply a base coat
- Step 03: Add the rainbow dots
- Step 04: Seal it all in
Step 01: Prep your nails
Before applying any nail paint, it's essential to prep your nails to ensure that the nail paint goes on smoothly and lasts longer. Start by wiping your nails clean with an acetone-free nail polish remover. It's essential to do this even if you don’t have any residue from previously applied polish. Next, cut your nails to the desired length and shape them using a nail file. Clean your nails once again using nail polish remover to get rid of all the dirt from the filing.
Step 02: Apply a base coat
Next, apply a layer of base coat to give the nail paint something to cling on to. This little step will help increase the lifespan of your mani. If you don’t have a base coat, don’t worry. You can even apply a clear nail polish such as the Lakme 9 To 5 Primer + Gloss Nail Color - Top Coat.
Step 03: Add the rainbow dots
After prepping your nails, it's now time to add the colour. Pick four to five bright colours from the Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Polish and apply it on the tips. If you don’t have the manicure dotting tool, don’t worry, you can simply make the dots using either a toothpick, matchstick or a q-tip.
Step 04: Seal it all in
Once you've applied the colours and are satisfied with how it looks, allow your manicure to completely dry. Once it’s dry, apply the Lakme 9 To 5 Primer + Gloss Nail Color - Top Coat and seal everything in. This step will ensure that your manicure stays fresh for a longer period.
