There is just something really classy about matte nail paints. A single coat of any matte nail colour is a sure shot way to spruce up your manicure game. But if you don’t have matte nail paint on you, fret not. We’ve got a few neat tricks up our sleeve that can turn any nail paint matte. Yes, really! Scroll down to find out what they are…
This is a brilliant, quickest and the most non-messy way to turn any nail polish colour of your choice matte in just a few minutes. While you paint your nails, as usual, heat some water in a medium-sized container until it starts to boil. Once you’ve applied two coats of your nail paint, simply place your nail on top of the container in such a way that the steam touches your nails. Keep moving your hands to ensure the steam evenly coats your nails.
Another great way to mattify any nail paint of your choice is to mix the nail enamel with a little bit of talcum powder. Simply take a bit of the Pond’s Dreamflower Talc in a bowl and add some nail paint to it. Mix it well and apply it to your nails immediately. This will ensure that the nail paint looks absolutely matte on application. But a word of caution here – powder can dry out the nail polish pretty quickly, therefore be very swift with your application.
This method requires using an eyeshadow colour, so put that broken eyeshadow to use or pick an eyeshadow colour you’re not fond of. Using a toothpick, scrape the matte eyeshadow colour of your choice and transfer it to a dish. Using the backside of a makeup brush, crush the eyeshadow evenly to ensure there are no lumps and add a little bit of talcum powder to the mix. Now, keep adding a topcoat such as the Lakme True Wear Color Crush-10 little by little to this eyeshadow mixture and keep stirring continuously to ensure there are no lumps. Once you have a nail polish-like consistency, apply it your nails and voila! Your matte nail polish is ready.
